RCCSL – Circular Saw

Evolution power tools have over 20 years’ experience in the power tool sector and are recognised as one of the fastest growing power tool brands in the world. Evolution’s innovation comes in the form of their advanced, multipurpose TCT blade technology which cuts wood, aluminium and steel with a single blade. HJC had the privilege of collaborating with Evolution to expand their ‘Build Professional Range’ by developing their newest range of Circular Saws from the ground up.

As with all products in the Evolution build range, the focus of development revolved around delivering an accurate, reliable and powerful saw suitable for both entry level users and people in the trade at a competitive price point.

HJC and Evolution collaborated on the project from its earliest stages. Market analysis of competitor products was done prior to the project kick off. Thorough tear downs of multiple units at different price points helped get under the skin of the existing successful products on the market. Existing DFM knowledge allowed assessment deeper than the surface level features, revealing how these were achieved from an engineering/manufacturing standpoint embedded a strong awareness of design parameters surrounding circular saws.

Understanding the needs of both client and user alike enabled the development of realistic concepts during the ideation stages, it was important that these looked at home among the other saws in the Evolution build range. These concepts could be built upon quickly in the later stages to fast forward the development process. A rigorous development process focused on optimising the construction of the saw for best possible accuracy whilst reducing the part count for a streamlined assembly process.

Evolution build saws feature a multipurpose cutting blade suitable for steel, wood & plastics, making them versatile & economical as users only require 1 blade for most jobs.
